A firm believer in the benefits of taking time for myself and enjoying the company of wonderful women, I make room for a weekly outing with girlfriends.
Mother's guilt aside, there is a small price to pay for leaving the boys with their dad:
Burglars will enter the kid's room and practically empty all drawers. They may even leave a dirty diaper on the floor (see foot of the bed) or take off the mobile from the crib and put it on Luca's bed. Wait! Where is Luca? Did they take him?
They may also, just for the heck of it, leave the wipes box open and most diapers on the tray will magically disapear!
Fortunately, you will find that Luca was not taken after all. He's just sleeping in your bed with a bucket full of toys which will poke you in the back at different times during the night. And Andre... well, he's sleeping quietly after having enjoyed a long snuggle with dad.
And all the stuff on the floor (your should see the family room) is just a gentle reminder that a girls night out has a small price to pay - a little clean up afterwards.
very funny and very accurate. at least for me :-)
ReplyDeleteCute post! Girls night out is always worth it, even if you have to clean up afterwords.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your kind and encouraging words :)
LOL. And I'm sure the day out was worth it anyway. Bonus: With them all tuckered out from a day of playing, after cleaning up, you get to enjoy some more quiet time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
I totally agree that it's a small price to pay. My hubby is just as messy (if not more!)
ReplyDeleteSounds like I'm not the only one experiencing this phenomenon :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I have a mom's night out next week. I'm sure it'll be, um, INTERESTING when I get home!
ReplyDeleteVery funny and very very true :P
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your SITS Day! What a lovely blog you have. It is a small price to pay for having time to yourself. It's also a sign that good times were had at home and that time with daddy is just as important as mommy's time with her friends. Thank you for sharing this funny, but so true and real, part of being a mom.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Almost makes me miss having little kids.
ReplyDeleteBut not quite. I'll look forward to grandkids instead.
Clever post :)
ReplyDeleteI get more girls nights out now that my kid are a little older. They still leave the house a mess, but I rarely find them in my bed anymore. Kind of makes me miss the old days when they needed me so much.
Oh yes, I always pay for girls night out. Brave of you to post pictures of the aftermath! Congratulations on your SITS day!
ReplyDeleteThat's sooo funny! I'm really looking forward to motherhood in a few years. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day and may your girls night out continue!
Pesky burglars!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteI loved your blog. I too am a full-time working mother and struggle to find time for it all. Visiting your blog was like taking a step back and enjoying a nice breath of fresh air!
Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteVery funny posts - brought back some great memories! Visiting from SITS.
ReplyDeleteOh for a girl's night out! I know how just leaving them with Daddy to go to the grocery store can leave a mess... But for a girl's night out, that I think would be worth it. I think I need to call a few friends now....
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS
Thank goodness you have a great. supportive husband to leave them with. The house is messy, and yet they are safe and sound. Watch out for that action figure - they're murder on the arch of a bare foot!
ReplyDeleteHi, I popped over from SITS. Great post!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love how my husband gives me the stinkeye if I chose to just stay home and be lazy all day on the computer, letting our daughter watch TV. And then what happens every weekend unless I'VE made plans for us all to go do something? She watches TV all day while HE sits at the computer!
ReplyDeleteAd I have woken up with many an action figure poking into my spine!
So, so true. There is definitely a price to be paid while away from home. I went on a trip with my husband and when we came back both the girls were sick and I came down with it too. It took us weeks to recoup and get back on track. I find that every time I go away, whether to run errands, a girls night (what's that?!) or on a trip, there is ALWAYS clean up afterward.
