fun = laundry

Do you ever find that there is a correlation between the amount of fun the family has over the weekend and the number of loads of laundry that result? Allow me to illustrate:

- Friday Night: Sea World + pizza and games = 1 load
- Saturday: Swim school + picnic + park + inflatable pool = 3 loads
- Sunday: Run and bike + community pool + World Cup with the family + backyard = 2 loads

Weekend tally: 7 loads
I am out of town visiting my sister this weekend while Alain and the boys are staying at home. Given the fact that they usually find a million things to do, I think I’m coming home to at least 6 or 7 loads. I just hope they don’t run out of underwear before I come back!

  1. What a fun spin on laundry...I should start looking at it like that. The more laundry, just means we've had lots of fun. I like that. Thanks:)

  2. I know! I guess complaining doesn't make it any better :-)

  3. Oh no - I have nothing to look forward to then. My husband already likes to do 3-4 loads during the weekend when he's home since he travels every week. Before he traveled, he did a load a day. I can only imagine how much laundry I'll do once we have children. BTW - I saw in your profile that you do consulting and you're an IO Psychologist. We seem to share similar interest as I'm also a consultant and do Org. Development types of work.

  4. Ugh, girl, Laundry is the worst! Why is it that it is still that thing the wife does, no matter how helpful the husband may be and no matter how much he doesn't care to have a wife from the 50's the laundry is still the woman's job. I hate it and never seem to stay on top of it (2 baskets of clean laundry sitting by the bed and one in the dryer, with a pile of towels waiting to go in). I even put it in my blackberry as a calendar appt every two days, haha - what a joke, I think that lasted a week. Anway, thanks for reminding me of the dreaded laundry!!! Visiting from LBS! Hope you will stop on by to my mommy blog or fitness blog sans laundry!

  5. I guess we don't have too much fun. We usually do 2 loads a week or every other week. But there is just the 2 of us now.

  6. That's a good point. I think my theory only applies to families with small children because your blog makes me think you have quite a fun life!

  7. Laundry is the bane of my existence. It never ends and it's never measured in terms of fun :( Get up, go to work, wash clothes. If we went to SeaWorld or the park it would be different - but sadly, it's not!
