This past weekend Alain and I dropped off the boys at my parents' house and headed to Santa Barbara. We had crab and sangria, walked along State St., did wine tasting, had dinner at a great restaurant, slept in, worked out at the gym, shopped a little, read a lot. It was bliss.
Funny. During the first half of the first day day we were feeling a little strange. Like something was missing. Like, maybe, two very active little boys? It took us a couple of hours to find the smooth flow of just us.
I am so glad we were able to spend two days alone. It was a little bit of "us" and it was great. It made going back to the crazyness of
"all of us" a natural and welcome transition. We loved being by ourselves, but we also love being parents and would not trade it for the world. Not even for a kobe beef flat iron steak with a bottle of pinot noir.
What a fun weekend. It is good and okay to take a few days here and there.
ReplyDeleteI love SB. I'm glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteThe wines over there are amazing. I really like Sea Smoke and El Molino. What did you have?
ReplyDeleteSanta Barbara is quaint and we had a great time. The wine we enjoyed was a Melville Pinot Noir... I think 2006.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like a little bit of heaven:)
