Today is an exciting day, as my blog is being featured by the
SITS Girls, an online community of women bloggers led by four talented women. If you are visiting from SITS, welcome! If you are a regular reader, thank you for stopping by and joining me on such a special day.
On a Learning Journey started as a way for me to process my experiences trying to balance a professional life with motherhood. I often post about things that I enjoy, struggle with and wonder about. Blogging has led me to find other bloggers and I have not only learned from them, but also found an endless source of support.
Thank you for visiting. I hope that you will find something that interests you, entertains you or helps you. If you would like to do some browsing but don't know where to start, here are some of my favorite posts:

ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day! I'm about to follow along... as a mom just back in the work force, I look forward to reading your thoughts on the subject.
ReplyDeleteHere's my latest working mom issue: For the first time, I'm going to let one of my children bail early from a commitment. The Girl is taking Irish Dance lessons and does not want to continue next year so I'm letting her stop now so I don't have to invest in a costume she will never wear again. BUT, it's not just the money... one of the real reasons is that it's just too much, racing up there after work and them home for dinner... I know she enjoys it, but if her heart isn't in it, why should I exhaust myself??? This is not something I would have allowed were I still home! HMM... I feel a future blog post...
Happy SITS day! I'm also the mom of two boys, but mine are 18 and 21. Enjoy them now; time flies.

ReplyDeleteHi! I really enjoyed taking the time to read through your blog. Has anyone ever told you how your posts manifest a calming effect on people? It's been a hectic 2-days for me and my daughter as she's been fighting a yucky virus. After 24hrs of no sleep we both crashed in the family room couch physically and emotionally drained from being "Sicky". When I sat down to try and edit one of my new blog posts, I got side tracked and strolled over to SITS where I ventured over to your blog. Your blog posts are very refreshing! Happy SITS Day, and Congratulations on being this week's Featured Blogger!! xoxo

I have really, really enjoyed reading your posts on work and motherhood. I'm currently taking a year off from corporate America while my son is in half day kindergarten, but I am very well acquainted with the challenge of trying to balance work and motherhood. In fact, a big part of why i started my blog was to express my feelings and frustrations on this subject.
ReplyDeleteHaving a husband that actively shares the parenting responsibilities is so critical for working moms. In the last 2 years my husband's job becaome all consuming and I was pretty much left to function as a single mom without actually being divorced. And it all fell apart. Performing poorly at work. Performing poorly as a mom.
I know when I go back to work next year, my husband's involvement must be part of the equation going forward.
Your boys are adorable and lucky to have such a great mom! Congrats on your SITS Day!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your SITS day! Hope it was a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day! I like your description of the dynamic process of balance, as well as the obstacle of perfection, since it doesn't exist. There is no perfect alternate universe somewhere--we have the one here, and it sounds like you are doing great!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day! What a feeling! I just had mine too. Trying to visit everyone who commented, so thank you so much for swinging by my place.
