end-of-summer blues

Last year was Luca's first year in pre-school and this summer was thus his first summer vacation. As his first day of school fast approaches, I am feeling a little relieved that we will have a routine again. An earlier bed time for Luca translates into more quiet evening time for the grownups in the house. Mostly, however, I am feeling a little blue that the summer is almost over.

As a working mom, my activities with the boys during the week are limited to the afternoon when I arrive home from work. The long, warm days of this summer have been spent at the beach, at the park, at the pool, and everywhere but inside. Sharing fun experiences and seeing smiles is so much nicer than being inside the house continuously calling something to their attention or picking up after them. Children behave so much better when they are outside and having fun!

I've been thinking about what to do in the evenings as the days shorten and cool.

What do other moms of pre-schoolers do during the winter?

  1. I like to get home and put off all the to-dos so I can dedicate at least one hour of time to my children. We usually read or do crafts. They get their mommy time and, when I start to make dinner or laundry, they are calmer and less clingy.

  2. Today my little ones are at school and I miss them so much. You are lucky that you have a few more days to enjoy them :-)
